Weekend happenings in Pinellas
Hello!
We’re here to round up more local events and happenings around Pinellas. It’s decidedly summer, with lots of community pool activities and outdoor events.
If you’re looking for an easy activity that you can take anywhere, Moccasin Lake Nature Park has also put together a fun outdoor nature challenge. Kids can work on throughout the summer to become a junior park ranger. Check out the program here.
Highland Recreation Center has started “itty bitty time” at their pool splash pad for kids 5 and under. It’s MWF from 9-9:45am and it costs $2 instead of full price (kids and parents both have to pay admission). This takes the place of their Playworld indoor playground “itty bitty time” which doesn’t run over the summer because of camps.
To close, I wanted to highlight a new restaurant we tried this week that was AMAZING for kids. You would never guess at first glance but JR’s Sports Pub off Roosevelt Blvd has a huge, fenced-in astroturf backyard, a little mini golf area, games and bounce houses! Plus, they were so so nice and helpful when we came with two toddlers and a baby.
They also focus on accessibility. There’s a sensory-friendly room in the restaurant and a bar stool that is accessible for wheelchair users. This isn’t sponsored at all, they were just so thoughtful that I want to help them spread the word since they only opened in April. Needless to say, I immediately added them to our list of the best kid-friendly restaurants in Pinellas.
Have a great weekend!
